The Richest Hill is a series in several media that reflects and documents my evolving relationship with Butte, Montana.

Butte is now known as the Mining City, but in decades past was called "The Richest Hill on Earth" because of the vast fortunes in minerals that were removed from beneath its streets.

Butte retains many unique - and often charming - qualities, reminders of its complex history. However, even though not everything in Butte is beautiful or gentle, I find it all compelling.
